Salvador Ibanez was a Spanish luthier. He made guitars, ukuleles, mandolins, bordones, and other stringed instruments.
These instruments were prized for their excellent quality and impeccable workmanship.
This guitar is a smaller instrument the scale length is 635mm. The complete length of the guitar is 920mm. The width of the guitar is 82.5mm. The width of the neck is 42 mm a the top fret and 55 mm at the bottom 12th fret.
The frets are original and very worn.  If I were to keep the guitar.  I would have the frets replaced by a professional luthier.
The Face of the guitar is solid German Sitka Spruce, the back and sides are Rosewood, the fingerboard solid ebony, the tuners were bronze with bone rollers and there was one with wood rollers.
I have just replaced the old tuners with new ones. These were hard to find most rollers are 10mm and these were 6mm exactly what I needed.
The rollers are plastic, however they made this rare Antique Classical guitar playable.
The neck is mahogany.
The fingerboard is smooth and the neck  is straight with a little relief.
The label inside this guitar states that it is from the shop which was located on Bajada de San Francisco, 23 Valencia, ESPANA.
In 1870 Salvador Ibanez was registered as a guitar maker at Calle Cubells, Valencia.  He started making guitars at the age of eleven on Calle Muela in Valencia Spain.
Salvador made bandurrias, lutes, six and 12 string guitars, also guitars with detachable necks. In 1897 he made the worlds first double necked guitar.
From 1896 to 1927 his shop was located at Calle Bajada de San Francisco, 23 Valencia Spain, which is where this guitar was manufactured. So this instrument was was made before 1927. Between 1915-1920 Salvador Ibañez e hijos the shop had two locations Calle Bajada de San Francisco, where this guitar was made and Calle Padre Rico Valencia.  When Salvador died in 1920 his workshop was managed by his two sons until it was sold in 1933 to Telesforo Julve.  Julve bought the Salvador Ibanez name, personnel and machinery and incorporated it in its own enterprize. In 1944 Julve was still using the Salvador Ibanez 3 Hijo Labels.

.  That is eleven years before Telesforo Julve bought
Salvador Ibanez factory, those labels had the Salvador Ibanez 3 Hijo labels.
Most players and consumers are more familiar with the Japanese versions.
In Japan, just before or just after the second world war, Hoshino Gakki begins production of its own acoustic guitars for the Japanese market. It did not have a business relationship with Ibáñez nor Julve from Valencia. Before World War II, there were 4 importers/distributors in Japan for the Ibáñez guitars of which Yamaha is the most known. Hoshino Gakki marketed their acoustic guitars first under the brand name "Ibanez Salvador" and later simply as "Ibanez". Ibanez guitars obtained great success in the 1970s and 1980s
Hoshino Gakki currently produces both acoustic and electric guitars using the
Ibanez
brand name, but is mostly oriented to producing electric guitars.
This instrument is playable but more for a collector, or someone who may want to restore to perfection.

Julian Bream has played a Salvador Ibáñez guitar. Eric Claptop has owned several original Salvador Ibáñez guitars, one of which was sold at a benefit auction in 1999 obtaining a final price of US,000.
