Ocean Going Custom Chinese Hand Carved Ship Cabinet

From a sea captain's estate, this superb cabinet was originally on a huge ocean liner and traveled home with the captain upon his retirement. Family members told us it was used in the officer's dining room for their fine china which was served only for the captain and his officers. Since this was a Chinese made custom piece, the superb hand carving with bunches of grapes hanging down, as well as the rest of the carving, expresses to us that it was probably made for a French liner.
There is Chinese writing on the back of the cabinet which we have not shown you since furniture jammed into this area for our retirement dispersal sale doesn't give us enough room to swing it out. The four doors contain locks; there is one original key that has traveled with it that can be used for all four doors. (Please excuse the clutter inside of the cabinet; much is askew as we sell our things before retiring.)
The cabinet is made of hard wood that we cannot identify, but it is unusual and has a lovely natural patina. A one-of-a-kind artifact.
