This is a gorgeous festdrakt ( bunad )  made similar to the Telemark beltestakk style, and which is especially popular in Norway. There is a b ig difference in nthe authentic beltestakk and this one in that the belt is not hand woven and the skirt is not a "wheel" very circular. One reason this style is so popular is because of the color choices and the possibility of sewing yourself without having to do all the lavish embroidery or weaving of many authentic bunads. The original beltestakk has a handwoven wide belt with or without tassles. These are worn with white blouses or highly decorative embroidered blouses. Shoes are black.
I have chosen a matching shawl in beige or a Geiger wool sweater in coordinating color and you may choose which you want.
The skirt is of wool blend, the apron of cotton and the trim of various materials. Dry cleaning recommended. The
washable
bunad shirt or blouse which is also from Norway is of cotton with lace trim washable.

The AUTHENTIC BUNAD for adults has strict ethnic rules as to how it must look and what silver is to be worn to be "Correct".  As these costumes are 100% hand embroidered and sewn together, they usually cost from 00, silver NOT included....they are made with deep hems and wide seams so they can be taken in and let out as needed, and when passed on from one generation to another. Each district often determined by valleys has its own bunad which is recognizable to others.  Bunads er very expensive. Whether one wears a bunad or festdrakt is often because of cost, but not always. Many prefer to have a festdrakt and change every 2-3 years.
The
FESTDRAKT
has no distinct design designated by a particular area and is made of a combination of beautiful fabrics, borders and designs from different valleys made to assimilate the adult costumes....and they are marvelous....some of soft wool, others of cotton...lavish brocades etc.
