About Archer Fine Transfers:
Archer Fine Transfers is well known in the modeling community for producing highly accurate transfers of excellent quality. Although they have some traditional water-slide decals available, their primary product line is dry transfers. Dry transfers are are markings that you don't have to use water to apply, but instead you gently rub them on with a blunt tool or object, when they are dry.
The benefit of using dry transfers over water slide decals is that dry transfers are usually more realistic in appearance because they appear painted on like real vehicle markings. This better appearance is due to the transfers not having excess carrier film and also being generally thinner than water slide decals so they snuggle down and hug the object better.
Decal Specifications:
Complete markings for one large and one medium U.S. Ambulance. Numers next to emblems are size in inches of the actual insignias. Divide by 35 to get 1/35 dimensions.
To mark ambulance vehicles, the International Red Cross symbol was standardized on by most western armies during WWI. The US Army standardized its markings by size for specific vehicles during the Second World War, and these remain in service to this day. While some of the markings are still formed from decals attached to the vehicles, many newer ones -- like the two AM General Hummer ambulances -- use panels which can be folded up to reduce the obvious tactical signature of white and red markings in the field.
The markings here are standardized and will fit on any ambulance vehicle. The large ones are designed for trucks in the 3/4 to 1 1/4 ton range (Dodge T214 series, M37B1, M725, M886, or M1010, plus the canvas topped M561 Gama Goat) and the smaller ones to fit on lighter vehicles (Willys MB with canvas, M38/M170, M151/M825, Weasel, and other light vehicles).
