    Description

    This antique Ming Buddhist's Scriptures cabinet is circa in the early 19th century. The style of the cabinet is originated from the early Ming Dynasty. The cabinet was originally collected from a Buddhist’s temple in Shanxi Providence, China, and was used as a Buddhist's Scriptures Cabinet (佛经柜). The cabinet is made from a combination of cypress and elm wood with beautiful natural wood grain. Single planks of wood are used for making the frames, front doors, and side panels. The detailed handwork of this cabinet shows great workmanship of furniture making in the old days. The cabinet is handcrafted and structured with wooden pegs and tenon structure, which is the very traditional craftsmanship for furniture making in ancient China. Copper hardware. Original Wear and Patina. The cabinet is very heavy (approx. 300lb.) and has been kept in excellent condition.
